The Silver Dollar Award was Dyer’s idea. From 1987 to 1990, he personally awarded a silver dollar from his own collection to the outstanding girl or boy at soccer camp.

Manny shared a special bond with Mr. Bennett, and cared for him in his final days when he passed away in February of 1991 at 83 years old. Since then, we have continued to give this prestigious award in his memory because he cared so much for the young children of our community, particularly thoseactive in sports.
